Hickory Chair is now at Rivers Spencer Interiors!

We are so excited to announce that Hickory Chair has officially arrived in our showroom on Magazine Street. We just received the Suzanne Kasler Choate Dining Table in the full extension version. This beautiful table comfortably sits 10 with all 3 leaves and allows plenty of room for full formal place settings & table decor.

One of our main High Point Highlights was visiting the showroom and getting to see all of the pieces in all of their various finish & upholstery options. It is so easy to take a single piece and use it 5 different ways for a whole new look. This line is extremely versatile and will be a huge addition to our design business. Check out some of these great vignettes from the showroom.

Have a great Thursday!

High Point Highlights

April & October are two of my favorite months because of market in High Point, North Carolina. Stores & designers from all over the world travel to a tiny town that comes alive for only two weeks out of every year. The entire downtown has been taken over by showrooms showcasing everything that you could possibly imagine. I always leave with a ton of new energy and new inspiration for the store and my clients. Here’s a tiny peak at the town and some of the things that I took away from this April market.

We met lots of new friends, saw some great product, and probably bought way too many antiques, but they were just too good to pass up this market. I was asked to highlight product for International Market Center and these are some of the things that I found to showcase for the day.

On Sunday I interviewed a ton of designers about their time at market, new product they were launching, and what they were finding. First I talked with Tobi Fairley about her new colorful collection for Soicher Marin. It was great to hear about where she found her design inspiration for such a large collection of amazing art.

Here’s Tobi with just one of her many pieces for this new gallery.

I also was so excited to interview Andy Singer of Visual Comfort. What he has done for the lighting industry truly amazes me. Sadly I did not get a photo, but here is one of their showroom in the Commerce & Design building at High Point.

I ran into fellow designers Paloma Contreras of La Dolce Vita and Mark D. Sikes. I spoke with them about the influence that fashion has on the design industry. Mark just launched his new fashion collection – MDS Stripes. How can you not love a classic stripe?

And to finish it out, here are a few antique items that just landed in the store yesterday fresh from High Point. Come by and check them out.

Check back in a few days. We are extremely excited to be the new and only Hickory Chair dealer on Magazine Street. I can’t wait to show you the new items that we found, and the beautiful pictures of their showroom in High Point.

Introducing the Rivers Spencer Collection

Hey Y’all,

I have been working for a relatively long time to get the Rivers Spencer Collection off the ground, and it is FINALLY happening. I’m extremely excited to announce that this fall we are planning to show several of our pieces at High Point Market in October with Tritter Feefer and pleased to announce that we will be going in to their showroom at ADAC this Fall, as well.
All of the pieces I have designed are bench made and hand finished in New Orleans. We work with fine artisans in the City to produce a product that is not only beautiful and well made, but will last for years to come. The reason I started making custom furniture for both my retail store and my design clients is because every time I went to market I simply couldn’t find quality pieces with acceptable finishes and timeless design. I would return without finding exactly what I wanted, and it drove me to come up with my own solution for the gap in the industry (there are definitely people making beautiful quality products, but not at the most accessible price points. I wanted to do something made in the U.S. but at a mid-level price point). One of the great things about the Collection is that you can order the pieces in any metal leaf finish, painted or lacquered finish you can think of. Everything is made to order, so you can modify dimensions and specify color and finish. The Collection is still a work in progress in the sense that I am constantly designing new pieces and coming up with new ideas.

Every piece in the line is named after a dear friend or someone who has touched my life, and each piece represents his or her personality, to an extent. I am really enjoying designing the pieces and learning as much as I can about the production process.
You can find the collection pieces on my website (within the next few weeks) as well as in my new showroom at 3909 Magazine Street in New Orleans. Look for us at High Point in Tritter Feefer, as well as at their showroom in ADAC this fall.

New Website, New Showroom, New Blog!

Hey y’all!

Really exciting time here at Rivers Spencer Interiors. We have just moved from our showroom at 4610 Magazine Street to a much larger space at 3909 Magazine. I am really excited about the new space because not only is it twice as big, but the layout lets me show my design style as I would in someone’s home. Most importantly I now have a workable office! Inventory is still dribbling in, but we are “softly” open to the public. I hope everyone can join us for our grand opening party on September 5 from 5-9. There will be a band, food, and plenty of alcohol – it is New Orleans after all.

We’ve got many things on our plate – and I’m not just talking about the fabulous New Orleans food – we’ve launched a new custom furniture line working with local artisans in the city, and we are happy to report that it has been well received by our clients and customers alike. All of our furniture is hand-finished with our proprietary line of finishes as well as benchmade by local welders and woodworkers with whom we work very closely. And we don’t want to jinx ourselves, but we are currently working on prospects to show at a higher level with a bigger audience. Keep your fingers crossed.

In other news, we have FINALLY launched our new website and although it is a work in progress, we are very pleased with the work to date. (Thank you Summer and the team at Good Work Marketing) Our goal is to create an online store for you with the lines I design with and also my curated collection of antiques, art, lighting, and accessories. My private label upholstery line and my furniture collection will also be available for purchase via the new website. Get ready to shop with us in the fall.
